Yes from either a Dentist, Orthodontist or Medical Specialist.  A referral allows us to ascertain what we are needing to discuss with you and also what investigations your medical or dental practitioner has already completed. We can see you without a referral however, you will not be able to claim anything back from Medicare or your Private Health Funds.

This will vary depending on what type of surgery we are needing to see you for.  Consultations can take anywhere from 15mins – 45mins.

No, you don’t have to have Private Health Insurance to be seen by our surgeon.  The costs of the procedures and associated expenses will be provided to you at the time of your consultation for your surgery.

Oral & Maxillofacial Surgeons specialise in the oral and maxillofacial area.  Your dental practitioner or medical practitioner has referred you to us as your procedure is potentially complex or your medical history is complex or it is not something that they do.

We need to be able to have a consultation with you so that we can:

  • Complete an initial assessment
  • Discuss your treatment options and treatment plan
  • Discuss the type of anaesthetic that you are likely to require for your procedure
  • Allow for you to ask any questions that you may have
  • To provide you with a quote for the costs involved in your treatment.

Your consultation will between $190 - $250 depending on what we are consulting you for and this is paid on the day at the time of your consultation.  If you have a current referral and Medicare care you will be able to claim approximately $78 back from Medicare for your initial consultation.
